The Betty Steflik Memorial Preserve is a 217-acre salt marsh and coastal scrub area/park. Visitors can hike the trails through the coastal scrub and walk the boardwalk over the salt marsh for a close-up look at the plants and animals of this unique marine habitat. It’s a favorite place of many for bird watching and picnicking. You can launch your boat from the Moody Boat Launch into the Intracoastal Waterway, or fish from the pier. The picnic pavilion in the park may be reserved by calling Parks and Recreation at 386-313-4020. The Betty Steflik Preserve is located on the eastern side of the Intracoastal Waterway south of State Road 100.

Varn Park is a short drive north of Flagler Beach. The park contains eight acres of beach/park area. It’s a very popular spot for surf fishing for flounder, snapper, bluefish, whiting and many other species. Varn Park is also excellent for shorebird watching and “line birds,” especially scrub jays that frequent the areas from here to the Matanzas Inlet.

Called the “Gem of the County,“ Wadsworth Park is a popular day park in the Flagler Beach area. It consists of 45 acres and offers two playgrounds, a skate park, a picnic pavilion, an elevated boardwalk, canoe and kayak launch site. The ball fields and picnic pavilion can be reserved for private functions by calling 386-313-4020. Wadsworth also boasts a 60,000 square-foot fenced dog park where dogs can run free and play with other canines. There are separate areas for large and small dogs and also benches for owners to sit and watch their pets.
